Firm History

David Michael Davenport AIA, P.A., was established in February 1989 and is a full service architectural firm providing superior design, construction document (graphics and written specifications) and construction observation services.  All graphic and written documents from preliminary design to construction documents are digitally produced in house to maintain quality control – no overseas contract drafting. All staff design and production personnel are college graduates with either design or architecture degrees.  The firm maintains a two million-dollar professional liability/errors and omissions policy.

While David Michael Davenport AIA, P.A. has completed projects ranging from retail centers to industrial production facilities to outpatient health care facilities, our firm has also successfully completed many single story and multi-story Self Storage facilities, producing over five million square feet of built self-storage projects throughout the eastern United States include the tallest self storage building in the United States (ten stories over parking).  More than a few of the firm’s projects have been published in the Self Storage press, along with articles in regional and local print media.

Additionally, the firm has also produced numerous outpatient health care facilities including catheterization laboratories and recovery facilities, general practice and specialty practice medical clinics, dental clinics, imaging and laboratory facilities.

Key Personnel

A U.S. Army veteran, David Davenport received a Bachelor of Design with honors from the University of Florida in 1981 and a Master of Architecture degree from the same school in 1985, and initial registration in Florida in January 1988.  A member of the AIA and NCARB certified, Mr. Davenport is currently registered to practice in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Alabama, South Carolina, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Louisiana.

Additionally, Mr. Davenport successfully completed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) exam in May of 2009, scoring 199 out of 200 possible points on the certification test.  In July of 2010 , he received the Building Design and Construction specialty certification, which is currently active.

Ms. Jennifer Showalter completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1996, and a Master of Architecture from the University of South Florida School of Architecture and Community Design in 2000.  She has been registered in Florida since October 2004 and is NCARB certified. Ms. Showalter currently serves as the managing partner at David Michael Davenport AIA PA.
